10.1 Maintenance Safety Warnings
• The UPS is designed to supply power even when disconnected from utility power. Only authorized
service personnel may access the interior of the UPS, after disconnecting the utility and DC
power.
• Battery replacement should be performed only by authorized service personnel using the same
number and type of batteries (sealed lead-acid).
• Do not disconnect the batteries while the UPS is in Battery mode.
• Disconnect the charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting terminals.
• Batteries can present a risk of electrical shock or burn from high short-circuit current.
• The following PRECAUTIONS should be observed:
1. Remove watches, rings or other metal objects.
2. Use tools with insulated handles.
3. Wear rubber gloves and rubber-soled footwear.
4. Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries or battery cabinets.
5. Disconnect the charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting terminal.
6. Determine if the battery is inadvertently grounded. If it is, remove the source of the ground.
Contact with any part of a grounded battery can result in electrical shock. The likelihood of
such shock is reduced if such grounds are removed during installation and maintenance.
