Functional Test / RCD Check
5.1 Functional Test
Prior to any measurement, a functional instrument
test has to be carried out on an operational EUT. This
could be a correctly wired socket, possibly
equipped with an RCD, which is known to function
perfectly.
5.2 RCD Check
RCD-test consists off two parts: preliminary test
and mains test. During the preliminary test, mains
frequency and contact are checked for their thresh-
olds. The mains is loaded with I∆N/3. During the
mains test, nominal current is used (for selective
choice „S"-RCD's with 2x I∆N.
Connect mains plug (7) to EUT (socket).
If „Netz nicht Ok" (mains not ok) appears in the
display, turn the plug. If this indication re-
mains, an error is present or the instrument
fuse is defective.
Select the desired measurement range via the
rotary switch (4) (depending on the RCD). For
selective RCDs, choose by using key „S" (2).
20
Select contact voltage via key (3). The two re-
sults can get oriented to 25V or 50Vs. If the ori-
ented value is exceeded at the measuring, the
display shows "
" and "Berührungsspan-
nung".
To carry out a complete socket test, the contact
electrode PE (5) must be touched. A high volt-
age (at PE) is present if the display shows "
" and "Berührungsspannung". Socket test is
carried out internally together with all other
measurements.
Press Start key (6).
If the mains voltage / frequency is outside tol-
erance, „Netz nicht Ok" is briefly short blinking
and a signal is audible.
When choosing selective a break of approx.
30s between the preliminary and the mains test
will occur to ensure correct tripping.„
" and „S" are blinking in the display.
