1. Excessive pressure
against the sanding
belt/disc.
2. Workpiece held in place
too long.
3. Sanding grit is too fine.
1. Low voltage when
drawing current.
2. Short circuit in line,
power cord or plug.
3. Short circuit in motor or
loose connections.
4. Incorrect fuses or circuit
breakers in power line.
1. Feed rate into sanding
belt/disc too great.
2. Low Voltage due to
insufficiently powered
circuit.
3. Wrong gauge extension
cord.
1. Tool mounting incorrect.
2. Incorrect tension set on
sanding belt.
3. Tension spring
malfunctions.
4. Idler roller is loose.
5. Sanding belt/disc is
damaged.
1. Reduce pressure on workpiece
while sanding.
2. Move the workpiece from side
to side while sanding.
3. Change to a coarser grit.
1. Check power source for proper
voltage.
2. Inspect cord or plug for
damaged insulation and
shorted wires.
3. Inspect all connections on
motor for loose or shorted
terminals and/or worn
insulation.
4. Install correct fuses or circuit
breakers or switch tool to an
appropriately sized circuit.
1. Slow rate of feed into the
sanding belt/disc.
2. Attach to power circuit with
adequate amperage.
3. Replace with a thicker gauge
extension cord.
1. Have motor mountings
inspected and adjusted.
2. Readjust belt tension. Replace
belt if necessary.
3. Have tension spring replaced.
4. Adjust or replace the idler roller.
5. Replace sanding belt/disc.
