REGULAR MAINTENANCE

After barbecuing, prepare the gas grill for the next use. With the lid closed, let the
grill self-clean on the highest setting (without grillables) to burn food residues or fat
on the grates and remove it afterwards with a brush.
To do so, follow the steps below:
1. Remove all food from the grate. Set the grill to the highest temperature and let
the flames burn for 10 to 20 minutes until there is no more smoke.
2. For persistent stains, turn the cast iron grates upside down so the side that has
been used faces the flames.
3. Close the valve of the gas cylinder (by turning it to the OFF position), then
turn the switch at the grill to OFF as well.
4. Now, clean the grate with a long-handled brass wire brush. Make sure to only
touch the brush with grill gloves or oven cloths as the device still is very hot.
5. Pour some rapeseed or sunflower oil onto a cloth and rub it into the grate to
prevent flash rust.
It is recommended to clean the triangular spots at the edges of the cast iron grates
separately after every second to third use. To do so, remove the grates from the
grill and carefully scrub them with warm water (no detergent) and a wire sponge
(pot scrub) until they are clean. Then, thoroughly dry with a cloth, oil them and put
them back into the grill.
Should the grates still show rust stains, scrub the rusty areas with steel wool until
all rust is entirely removed. Afterwards wash the cast iron with water or warm soap
water, dry it thoroughly and repeat the burning procedure.
During winter, store the cast iron grates in a dry place if possible.
A thorough cleaning of the grill should be done every 3 to 4 months. Burnout,
emptying of the grease drip tray, cleaning of the grease drip pan and cleansing of
the grates should be performed after every use.
