23. SADDLE STITCH STOPS ADJUSTMENT KNOB.
Located on the intermediate tray, this knob is used to position the paper stops for proper
stitch location. There is a knurled locking ring at the knob that must be loosened in order
to make adjustments.
24. STOP RETRACTION SWITCH.
Located on the intermediate tray, this switch holds the paper stops down as long as the
switch is held in.
25. PAPER STOP LOCK SCREW.
Located in the slot that the paper stops travel in, this allen screw is rotated 1/4 turn clock-
wise with the "T" wrench while the retraction switch is held in. this locks the saddle stitch
stops down while head stitching.
26. PAPER GUIDE SKIS.
The intermediate tray has four movable guide skis to control the paper in the paper stop
area and to assist in the paper's transfer to the PA–S/PAS–T. These skis have built in
extensions to give added control when the AGR-P / AGR-T is positioned farther away
from the PA–S/PAS–T.
MACHINE SET UP
SADDLE STITCH
Select the proper stitch plate from the chart provided and secure in place with the 3 mm
"T" wrench provided
Select the proper jogging arms for the application from the chart provided (pg 16).
Mount the arms to the jogging blocks with the thumb screws.
PAPER STOPS
Engage the saddle stitch paper stops by positioning the selector switch (7) to the right.
Verify that the Head Stitch Stops are locked down (14). Set the paper stops for the size of
the sheets being stitched using the scale on the intermediate tray. Make sure the stops
are locked in place with the knurled locking ring (23).
SIDE JOGGER
To set the side jogger, place a sheet of the paper to be stitched on the stitch plate. While
holding the Side Jogger Knob (11) in, rotate the knob clockwise to move the arm closer to
the sheet. The jogging arm should just touch the sheet without buckling it. To square the
jogging arms place a sheet of paper against the non-operator's jogging arm, but not
against the paper stops. With the machine running carefully hold the sheet and activate
the Manual Stitch Switch (4). The machine will cycle and apply two stitches to the sheet.
Measure the distance from each stitch to the lead edge of the paper, both should be the
same. If not adjust the jogging arms by loosening the two 3 mm screws on the top of each
jogger and skew the jogging arm. Moving the right end of the jogging arm towards the
non-operator's (ill. pg 11) side increases the distance between the operators side stitch
and the lead edge of the sheet. Lock the arms in place and test again.
CLINCHER POSITION
Set the clinchers for the desired stitch location. One method of locating stitches is to fold a
sample sheet in fourths in the long direction. Stitches are usually placed at the two outer
folds. Placing this sample sheet on the stitch plate will help locate the stitches. Turning the
small inner knob (12) clockwise will move the operator's side clincher towards the opera-
tor, the outer knob will move the non-operator's side. (save the sample sheet).
