8.2. Option D

The "D" option is an electronical circuit (detection circuit) that shuts off the transformers when
the high-voltage level drops below a preset value. This happens when a spark occurs from the
high-voltage towards earth.
This option is used in combination with direct coupled ionization bars like type SS or a
Conveyostat
. If a conductive material contacts the ionization points of this equipment, a spark
towards the earthed housing can occur and the material can ignite.
The detection circuit detects a high-voltage drop of ±15 %. Then it switches off the transformer.
After the cause of the spark has been traced and removed the "RESET" button can be pushed
to switch the transformer on again.
Both detection circuits are provided with alarm contacts. You can activate an alarm signal by
means of these contacts. This can be a lamp or a buzzer for instance.
The contacts are two-pole make- or breaker contacts and are drawn in alarm position.
The contact rating is 8 A - 250 Vac.
For an external signal you must use the contacts of both detection pcb's.
The contacts of the two relays may be cofigurated parallel or serial depending on the type of
alarm circuit that is used.
The RESET can also be carried out external. This may be a PLC contact or a switch/relay. The
max. contact voltage is 12 V.
The external RESET switch can be one contact that may be connected to one of the two pcb's.

- Feed the wiring through the gland and lay it as far as possible from the HV-terminal blocks.
- Connect the wiring to the terminal block of the pcb.
