When used as a receiving storage area, the symbolic workpieces brought into the station are detected at the
"i-point" by the detection module and, depending on color, are stored to one of six levels of a high-bay
racking system.
When used as an issuing storage area, the symbolic workpieces are withdrawn from the high-bay racking
system when requisitioned, and transported to the next station.
The function of the storage station is to:
• Differentiate amongst workpieces according to color
• Store workpieces or
• Issue workpieces
