Operation
a) Inserting and removing a Micro-SD card
• The product has no internal memory. It is therefore necessary to insert a memory card, in
order to save recordings. A Micro-SD memory card is not included in the scope of supply.
Micro-SD memory cards up to 32 GB are supported.
• Make sure before inserting and removing the memory card, that the camera is switched off
and that the product is not connected with a computer or with a power source via the USB
cable. This can lead to damage to the memory card and/or the product.
• Carefully insert a formatted Micro-SD card into the Micro-SD card slot (3) until it engages.
Ensure the correct orientation of the card, as shown in the above image and on the product.
Do not use excessive force when inserting the card.
• Remove the Micro-SD card by briefly pressing it in and then releasing it. The memory card
can then be removed.
• Use a Micro-SD card reader and connect it to your computer to view the recordings on your
monitor. This requires suitable video software. The videos are recorded as AVI files.
Regularly backup the memory contents of your Micro-SD card. A loss of data can
occur unexpectedly and at any time. Also remember to back up your data before
formatting.
b) Setting the time, date and memory card mode
• The time and date setting is optional. If required, you must connect the product in the
switched-off state to a Windows
or Mac computer using the USB cable. Leave the book
®
camera opened.
• Set Power ON/OFF (7) switch to OFF position, then set switch to Standby (9). Connect the
book camera to a computer. Wait approx. 5 seconds. A new drive appears on your computer
monitor. Open the drive and then the file TIME. While the book camera is connected with a
computer, the yellow LED indicator lights up, blue and red flash constantly.
• Then change the parameters for date, time and memory card mode. The date and
time are displayed in the following format: yyyy/mm/dd (year/month/day), hh:mm:ss
(hour:minute:seconds), [voice] Y (Y:turn on voice; N:turn off voice), [cyclic] N (Y:turn on cyclic
record;N:turn off cyclic record). Adjust the date and time. For the last item one can select
>yes< or >no<. With >yes< the first file on the memory card is deleted when the card is full.
All other files are then also deleted, to create space for new recordings.
• Select >no<, if the first file is not to be overwritten/deleted. When the memory card is full, in
this case the red and blue LED indicator lights flash for approx. 10 seconds, the book camera
then switches off.
• With some operating systems the external drive must be ejected before the USB cable
is disconnected from the USB port. Remove the USB cable from the computer and book
camera. The time settings are stored with the recordings.
c) Setting the book camera into operation
• Set Power ON/OFF (7) switch to ON position to switch the unit ON.. Set Power ON/OFF (7)
switch to OFF position to switch the unit OFF.
• Set the slide switch to MD (8) (set Power ON/OFF (7) switch to ON position) to switch the
book camera on for recordings with the motion detector. Blue indicator stays on. As soon
as a movement is detected, blue indicator goes off. The red indicator flashes three times
and then goes off. Video recording is in process. Every recording with motion sensor setting
takes approx. 5 minutes. The book camera swtich to standby mode again, the Blue LED
indicator lights on constantly. The recordings are performed until the memory card is full or
the rechargeable battery is empty. Set the Power ON/OFF slide switch (7) to OFF to turn off
the camera, the blue and red indicator will light up 2 times then goes off
• Set the slide switch to REC (10) to start recording instantly, set Power ON/OFF (7) switch to
ON position. The blue LED indicator light briefly lights up once and then flashes three times.
Every instant recording takes up to approx. 10 minutes. After that another recording starts
immediately. The recordings are performed until the memory card is full or the rechargeable
battery is empty. Set the Power ON/OFF slide switch (7) to OFF to stop the recording.
• When the slide switch is set to MD (8) and there is no memory card in the card slot, the red
and blue LED indicator flashes for approx. 5 seconds, the book camera then switches off.
When the slide switch is set to REC (10) and there is no memory card in the card slot, the Red
and Blue LED flash approx. 5 seconds. The book camera then switches off.
Camera: Angle of vision approx. 75°
• Take note, that approx. 2 seconds elapse between detection and recording. The book camera
should therefore not be used in an area in which objects are constantly in motion. This can
result in the wrong object being detected.
• The book camera is equipped with an IR-LED (1). As a result it is possible to perform
recordings in the dark (night vision). Recordings with night vision are performed in black/
white and are possible up to a distance of 3 - 5 m. If there is sufficient light available, the
recordings are performed in colour.
• The rechargeable batteries have a high capacity, so that a standby time of up to 24 months
is possible (dependent on the ambient conditions). You can therefore leave the book camera
in one place for a prolonged period, if only a few object movements occur in that area and
only a small number of recordings are performed. At full capacity the rechargeable battery
can provide a recording length of up to max. 9 - 10 hours with night vision (black/white) and
up to max. 30 hours in daylight (colour). Remember however, that the memory card does not
achieve this recording length.
• Valid as a guideline for 1 GB memory is a recording time of approx. 10 minutes in black/white
(night vision) or approx. 7 minutes in colour (daylight).
• Set Power ON/OFF (7) switch to OFF position to switch the book camera off.
• If the product does not perform any recording or does not respond otherwise, press the
button Reset (4), to reset the book camera.
Cleaning and care
• Turn off and disconnect the product from the mains before each cleaning.
• Under no circumstances use aggressive cleanings agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical
solutions since these can penetrate the housing or impair functionality.
• Never submerge the product in water or other liquids.
• Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
Disposal
