f Fit the outlets and collector connections as described in the
previous chapter.
10.4.1 Installing the centre cover
f Once all collectors and the left-hand end strips have been fit-
ted, install the centre cover on the cover holder.

10.5 Collector sensor

The correct connection of the collector sensor is crucial to the
correct function of the solar thermal system.
f Secure the sensor lead, for example with cable ties.
f Connect the sensor lead to the solar controller.

10.6 Lightning protection

If the building already has a lightning protection system, integrate
the collector casing, mounting frame and pipework into the exist-
ing lightning protection system.
10.6.1 Collector casing lightning protection

Connect the collector to the lightning protection system using the
hole drilled in the upper sheet-metal cover.
10.6.2 Mounting frame lightning protection
f Connect the mounting frame to the lightning protection sys-
tem using screw or clamp connections.
10.6.3 Pipework lightning protection
f Connect the pipework to the lightning protection system in
close proximity to the collector (above the roof) using pipe
clips (watch out for the risk of corrosion).

10.7 Earthing system

f Earth the pipework in accordance with current regulations.
All pipes must be connected to the building earthing system via
a short connection.

10.8 Expansion vessel

f Set the pressure expansion vessel to a pre-charge pressure
of 0.3 MPa (3 bar).
