10.3.2 Preparation
The following items are to be provided on site:
- Each collector array requires four additional roof battens
with the thickness of the existing roof battens and the length
of the collector array, and their fixing elements plus 12 zinc-
plated nails (1.5 x 20). Appropriate lining is required if the
roof battens exceed 40 mm in height. The roof battens must
be free of knotholes, cracks, notches or damage.
- Each collector requires two zinc-plated nails (1.5 x 20).
10.3.3 Installing the collector
f Select the fixing location. Take the pipe outlets through the
tensioned underlay, roof insulation, etc. into consideration
for later.

f Remove the rows of tiles to fit the roof integrated collectors.

4 Nails for securing the lead flashing
5 Lead flashing
f Fit a batten on its edge directly over the lower row of tiles to
support the lead flashing.
f Fit the second and third batten flat to secure the lead flashing
above the batten that is on edge.

Damage to the appliance and the environment
Ensure that a hollow channel in which rainwater may be-
come trapped does not form in the lead flashing between
the battens and the tiles.
f Nail the lead flashing on to the third batten so that it covers
at least 100 mm of the row of tiles underneath.
f When installing several collectors next to each other, ensure
that the pieces of lead flashing overlap at the sides by at least
100 mm.

f Fit two mounting brackets for each collector on the third roof
batten.
f Secure the mounting brackets on to the batten using the
nails provided on site.

a Side clearance: Width of one roof tile
f Fit an additional roof batten at a distance of 2080 mm from
the inside edge of the mounting bracket if a batten is not al-
ready there.
f Fit the right-hand collector array end strip. The clearance a
to the row of tiles at the side should be the width of a tile.
The tile to be fitted later should reach the second bead on the
collector array end strip.
