Installation
4.1
General Guidelines
H ave the devic e installed by a qualified pers on, res pecting all applicable norms .
I ns tall the device on an even, fire - res istant, s c ratch-resistant, water- resistant and
non- s lippery s urface.
T he c arrying c onstruction mus t be able to s upport 1 0 times the weight of the device
for 1 hour without deforming.
M ake s ure there is no flammable material within a 1 m radius of the devic e.
I ns tall the device in a loc ation with few pas s ers -by that is inaccessible to
unauthoris ed persons.
I ns tall the device in a loc ation where you c an eas ily ac cess the power c ord.
4.2
Overhead Installation
When hung, the devic e mus t always be s ecured with a s ec ondary attachment e.g. a
s afety c able (not inc l.).
Secondary A ttachment
Hanger
Where a hanger is provided, the bearing parts of the hanger s hall be c apable of
s upporting ten (1 0 ) times the weight of the luminaire without permanent
deformation and s hall be manufac tured from non - c ombustible materials s uch as
s teel or its equivalent.
A ccessories
T he des ign of the luminaire s hall be s uch that removable accessories, e.g. c olour
frames and barn doors , when properly ins erted, c annot fall out of the luminaire.
Secondary Suspension
A s ec ondary s uspension s hall be provided for the lumin aire, exc ept where the
luminaire is arranged for floor mounting or if it is intended for handheld us e. T he
s ec ondary s uspension s hall be des igned and mounted in s uc h a way that in the
event of a failure of the primary s us pension, no part of the luminaire c an fall. T he
s ec ondary s uspension mus t withs tand a 3 0 c m vertical drop for 3 0 times .
N ever s tand directly below the device when it is being mounted, removed or
s erviced. H ave a qualified technician c heck the device once a year and onc e before
you bring it into s ervic e.
O verhead mounting requires extensive experience: c alculating workload limits,
determining the ins tallation material to be us ed... H ave the material and the devic e
its elf c hecked regularly. D o not attempt to ins tall the device yoursel f if you lac k
thes e qualifications as improper installation may res ult in injuries.
For trus s mounting, us e an appropriate c lamp (not inc l.) and fit an M 1 0 bolt through
the c entre of the (folded) brac ket.
4.3
Connection
H ave a qualified electrician c arry out the elec tric c onnection.
C onnect the device to the mains with the power plug. A ll devices mus t be powered
direc tly off a grounded s witc hed c ircuit. D o not c onnect to a dimmer pac k.
T he ins tallation has to be approved by an expert before the d evic e is taken into
s ervice.
