Insert the horns (part 21) in the holes in the
elevons, and mark the two points on the hull where
the snake outer sleeves (part 22) will pass
through, keeping them exactly straight. Push the
snake outers through the Depron at the marked
points and draw them into the hull through the two
slots until they stop just short of the servo position.
Bend the pushrods to shape from 0.8 mm Ø steel
wire (part 23), and form a Z-bend in one end of
each. Connect the formed end to the elevon horns
and slip the wire pushrods into the snake outer
sleeves. Position the horns carefully, and glue
them to the elevons using foam cyano.
Glue the snake supports (part 24) to the bottom of
the hull wing, then fix the servos (part 25) in the
rectangular openings using UHU por or 5-minute
2-pack adhesive (e.g. UHU plus sofortfest, Order
No. 5806). Set the servos to centre and fit the
output arms on them. Now glue the snakes
securely to the supports using foam cyano. When
the glue has set hard we recommend that you
apply adhesive tape to the supports for additional
strength. Set the rudders straight and bend the
pushrods down at a right-angle so that they fit in
the servo output arms. Bend the ends a second
time to form a Z-bend. TIP: unscrew the servo
output arm, form the Z-bend, fit it in the output arm
again, and screw the arm to the servo once more.
NOTE: it is important that the servo centre setting
should correspond as accurately as possible to the
rudder centre setting, otherwise you will "lose"
effective rudder travel.
Mark the point where the rudder snakes (part 27)
pass through, at a distance of 260 mm from the
trailing edge of the lower elevons. Fit the snake
outers in the hull, exactly over the joint line
between the hull shell and the hull wing. Glue the
two snake supports (part 29) to the hull wing.
Form a Z-bend in the pushrods as described
previously, using the 0.6 mm Ø wire (part 28), and
connect the rods to the rudder horns (part 26).
Slide the pushrods into the snake outers, align the
horns carefully, then glue them to the rudders
using foam cyano.
The snakes can now be glued to the hull wing
using foam cyano, deploying them in a broad
radius. NOTE: ensure that the curvature of both
