Creating a PLC Program for the TD 390

8.1

Configuring the PLC Program

Requirements
You can only display messages with or without process data, timer and
counter values, clock, alarm and operating hours on the TD 390 if the
following minimum requirements are fulfilled:
1. A DB with its display messages must already be set up and stored in
the PLC.
2. You must set a corresponding flag bit (see Section 8.3) in your
STEP 5 program at the places where a message is to be displayed.
3. Your STEP 5 program must write the process values and timer/coun-
ter values in the associated DB before display on the TD
(see Section 8.5).
4. A parametric block (e.g. DB5) should be set up and loaded in the
PLC. This block links the messages to the flag bits (see Section 8.4).
If you want to work without this block, the TD 390 provides default
parameters (see Annex A.1).
Display
If you have fulfilled the above requirements, you can display and modify
messages and variables in the following way:
1. By means of flag bits set in the PLC program, you can display mes-
sages containing process, timer and counter values from the PLC on
the TD 390.
2. By selecting with the TD, modify process, timer and counter values
via the TD 390.
3. By selecting with the TD, modify times, alarms and operating hours
via the TD 390.
4. By setting the corresponding flag bits modify process, timer and
counter values via the TD 390.
