3.5
Video system
The SW164OSM matrix is enabled to work with PAL and NTSC video inputs.
3.6
Personal Computer
The SW164 matrix can be controlled by a Personal Computer.
The matrix regularly sends a synchronization byte (every about 500ms) used by the keyboards to check
the communication channel: this byte can be used by a Personal Computer to recognise and record
events, such as the condition of alarm, programming mode, etc.
3.7
Input recording on magnetic tape
The use of the videotape recorder allows storing on a magnetic medium a series of frames, whose
switching cycle is controlled by a trigger impulse supplied by the videotape recorder itself. The maximum
switching speed is 20msec.
A group of "active" inputs is defined, in order to avoid that the switching cycle includes some completely
black frames (with consequent distortions) in case the video signal is absent on some inputs.
The switching cycle in case of alarm can be therefore based on the group of the active inputs or on the
group of the alarmed inputs ; the regular switching cycle (matrix not in state of alarm) only on the active
inputs.
The recognition of the VCR trigger can be disabled, allowing for the control of the channel 4 by an
operator.
3.8
Recording events on a printer
A serial printer can be connected to the DB25 connector to record alarm conditions and other particular
events. 4 communication speeds can be selected : 300, 1200, 2400 and 9600 baud.
• Print out in case of alarm:
ALARM 0011.0000.0000.0001
The ALARM indication is followed by 16 alarm inputs, from the sixteenth to the first: the active alarms
are marked with 0. In the example shown inputs 14, 13 and 1 are alarmed.
The Date (in the format Year/Month/Day) and Hour are indicated.
• Print out in case of reset of the alarm condition:
KEYBOARD RESET 2
TIME RESET
EXTERNAL RESET
CONTINUOUS RESET
KEYBOARD RESET
CONTINUOUS RESET
Alarm type for further information).
• Print out when matrix is turned on and off :
when the matrix is turned on, when possible, the "matrix off" time is reported. Should date and hour be
corrupted, they will be printed as
MATRIX OFF
MATRIX ON
Warning ! Printers are usually provided with a print buffer which keeps a certain number of characters. On
these printers the printing is activated only if this buffer is full: considering the small amount of characters
sent in case of alarm, a manual intervention can be necessary to force the printing of the contents of an
incomplete buffer. For further information consult the User Manual of the printer
