Remedy
• Connect an outdoor antenna (refer to page 18).
• Connect the speakers properly. Refer to page 19 (VSX-415) or
page 20 (VSX-515).
• Refer to Speaker setting on page 38 (VSX-415) or page 42 (VSX-515)
to check the speaker settings.
• VSX-415 only – Refer to Setting separate channel levels for listening
modes on page 40 to check the speaker levels.
• VSX-515 only – Refer to Channel level on page 43 to check the
speaker levels.
• Refer to Speaker setting on page 42 to check the surround back
speaker settings.
• Refer to Channel level on page 43 to check the speaker levels.
• Refer to Using the surround back channel (Extended mode) on
page 33 to make sure the Extended mode and the sound mode are
set for surround back sound.
• Make sure the subwoofer is switched on.
• If the subwoofer has a volume knob, make sure it's turned up.
• The Dolby Digital or DTS source you are listening to may not have
an LFE channel.
VSX-415 model only:
• Switch the Subwoofer setting on page 38 to YES or PLUS.
• Switch the LFE attenuator setting on page 38 to 0 dB or 10 dB.
VSX-515 model only:
• Switch the subwoofer setting in Speaker setting on page 42 to YES
or PLUS.
• Switch the LFE Attenuator Setup on page 45 to

• Move the cassette deck further from your receiver, until the noise
disappears.
• Set the SIGNAL SELECT to AUTO, DIGITAL or ANALOG
according to the type of connections made. (refer to page 32).
• Set the digital input settings correctly. Refer to page 40 (VSX-415)
or page 44 (VSX-515).
• Make digital connections (refer to page 13) and set the SIGNAL
SELECT to DIGITAL (refer to page 32).
• Refer to the instruction manual supplied with the DVD player.
• Set the digital volume level of the player to full, or to the neutral
position.
