Adjusting and replacing the chain:
On dérailleur geared bicycles, the rear dérailleur auto-
matically tensions the chain. To adjust the chain on a
single speed freewheel, fixed gear bicycle, do the fol-
lowing steps:
1.
Loosen the rear axle nuts (consider the brake arm
clip if installed) and move the wheel forward to
loosen, or backward to tighten in the frame.
2.
When correctly adjusted, the chain should have
approximately 10 mm of vertical movement when
checked in the centre between the chain wheel
and rear sprocket.
3.
Centre the wheel in the frame and re-tighten the
axle nuts after any adjustment.
CAUTION: Chains require a special tool to change its
length or install and/or remove chain links. Contact a
professional bicycle mechanic to replace or change the
length of your chain.
