III. Installing the handlebar with stem
1. Stand the bicycle upright with two wheels on the
ground. The front forks should be facing forward.
2. Take the handlebar (5) and stem (3) assembly.
Ensure that the wedge nut (1) at the bottom of
the stem is loose. You may have to turn the stem
expander bolt (1) up a few times to loosen the
wedge nut.
3. Align the wedge nut (1) with the stem body (2) and
then carefully insert the stem into the headset
(3). The brake levers should face outward and the
cables should not be twisted.
4. Check the minimum insertion line indicated on the
stem. Make sure that the stem is inserted past this
line.
WARNING: The handlebar stem must be
inserted into the headset until the minimum
insertion line indicated on the stem is
completely covered.
