INSTALLATION
This section describes the replacement of the sta-
biliser.
ADVICE
We recommend that installation is car-
ried out only by expert workshops or our
AL-KO Service.
Installation must be carried in accordance
with the specifications of the ECE type appro-
val.
Observe the same clearances with all overrun
devices (07).
If clearances are exceeded due to attach-
ments (e.g. dropside, spare wheel), carry out
a separate check before use!
AKS 3004
Tightening torque
M12 - 8.8
CAUTION!
On many overrun devices, the shock ab-
sorber is hooked to the fastening screw
(rear screw of the coupling head). This
shock absorber extends automatically
when the screw is removed. Therefore
secure the shock absorber in position
using a drifter!
CAUTION!
Self-locking nuts may only be used once.
The AKS 3004 has a 50 mm drawbar connection.
If your drawbar has a smaller diameter, use the
appropriate spacers.

Spacers for drawbar tube diameters 35 mm
and 45 mm are included in the scope of supply
(14).
Replace the existing bellows with the bellows
supplied.
With drawbar tube diameter 35 mm, install the
bellows with a clamping ring.
Horizontal bolts
1. Drive out the rear screw using the drifter sup-
plied and leave the drifter in the drawbar tube
to assist in centering the shock absorber (15).
ADVICE
The shock absorber is threaded on
and is held in position.
2. Pull out the front screw and remove the cou-
pling head.
3. Push the AKS and any spacers required onto
the drawbar tube until the fastening holes are
aligned.
ADVICE
Always insert the horizontal bolts
from the left-hand side! Reason:
Clearances for the anti-theft device
- safety ball (accessory for AKS
3004).
4. Insert the Torx screw with washer through the
slot and insert any existing spacer bushes
again (16).
5. Using the other screw, drive the drifter out of
the rear hole so that the shock absorber can
be threaded on again (17).
6. Screw on new self-locking nuts. Tighten the
screws to the prescribed torque (18).
Cross bolts
1. Repeat steps 1 - 4 of section "Horizontal
bolts".
2. Insert flat round-head screw from above
through the fastening hole and drive out the
drifter (19).
3. Fit the existing profiled washer and screw on
new self-locking nuts (21 A).
4. Insert the Torx screw with washer through the
slot (20).
5. Screw on new self-locking nuts. Tighten the
screw to the prescribed torque (21 B).
