1- STORAGE AND HANDLING

Until assembly, the motor must be stored in the original packing.
The outside storage temperature limits range from –15°C to +50°C (Fig. 4).
2- USES
The 4" submerged motors are made with NEMA standard couplings.
They must only be used coupled to submerged pumps and only for the intended purpose, that is:
1- Pumping drinking, non-drinking water;
2- Operation in pressure boosting systems;
3- Operation for heating systems;
4- Mounting: vertical or horizontal position.
The improper use of the submerged motors is strictly prohibited.

3- OPERATING LIMITS

Temperature of the water 0°C to +40°C.
Maximum depth below the water level: 150 m.
Maximum starts/stops per hour equally distribuited: 150.
Protection: IP 68.
Installation: for correct motor operation must be guaranteed a flow of water around the motor casing of
at least 8 cm/s.
4- MOTOR CABLE CONNECTION AND EXTENSION
In reference to Figure 1:
– Remove the protective cap on the connector (1);
– Clean the plug (2) and the socket (4) from dirt and moisture;
– Smear silicon grease or Vaseline on the rubber part of the plug (3) so as to create a light film.
The grease must not touch the contacts on the connector;
– Insert the plug (2) fully into the socket (4);
– Tighten the fastening plate (5) using the screws provided (6);
– Protect the motor cable against possible damage.
Cable extension:
– Protect the connection points against the penetration of moisture using heat-shrinking tape, melting
material or accessories for cables (always observe the instructions provided by the manufacturer);
– The extension cable must be approved for use with the device and at the corresponding temperatures.
5- ASSEMBLING THE PUMP UNIT
These instructions only refer to the motor. Read the assembly instructions provided by the manufacturer of
the pump and if necessary refer to the installation diagram in Fig. 2.
1- Rest the motor and the pump horizontally on a flat surface (Fig. 6);
2- Before assembly, manually rotate the motor shaft, which must turn freely after having overcome the
friction due to adherence;
3- Smear acid-free and water-resistant grease on the teeth inside the pump coupling;
4- Remove the nuts (7 Fig. 1) from the motor screws;
5- Couple the motor to the pump so that the pump cable gland and the connection are aligned;
6- Tighten the nuts (7 Fig. 1) on the threaded screws, alternating in a cross sequence.
Observe the tightening torque values specified by the manufacturer of the pump.
