6- ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The motor must be only be started by trained and expert personnel.
The electrical connections must be performed by expert personnel.
The O3 PSC single-phase motors require a starting capacitor (Fig. 3a).
The proper capacitor type is shown on the rating plate on each motor.
On the O2 2-Wire motors, the capacitor is already built-in.
For the correct electrical connection, refer to the rated values and the wiring diagram shown on the motor
rating plate, as well as the safety instructions described below. The following information only refers to the
GB
motor and does not provide any indications on the control devices installed upstream.
D
Fuses and motor protection devices
1- An external switch (Fig. 7) must be fitted so as to be able to isolate system at any time;
F
2- An emergency stop device must be fitted;
3- Suitable fuses must be fitted for each phase (Fig. 8)
4- The O2 2-Wire motors (Fig. 3a), on the other hand, can be connected directly to the power supply line,
I
being fitted with a built-in motor protector; for the O3 PSC motors (Fig. 3a) and OT three-phase motors
(Fig. 3b), a motor protector must be fitted in the control panel.
E
- By lacking of motor protection warranty expired;
- Motor protection in accordance with EN 60947-4-1;
PL
- Trip time <10 s to 5 x I
- Calibration at working current (max. I
H
Earth connection
For the sizing of the ground connection, the power of the motor must be calculated according to IEC
LT
364-5-54 and EN 60034-1
– The motor must be ground connected.
– Ensure the good contact of the ground wire connection.
RO
It is recommended to fit lightening protection on the system control equipment.

7- CONFORMITY WITH THE DIRECTIVES
The EC "Machine" Directive establishes that motors represent a component of a machine.
This implies that the motor can only be started:
• After having assembled the entire machine;
• If the protection requirements specified by the applicable EC directives have been satisfied;
• If the above is confirmed by a declaration of conformity.

8- SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Fig. 9: WARNING: carefully read the operating instructions, especially the operating limits.
Fig. 10: Please check that the tension, frequency, power and axial thrust correspond with the details as
shown on the product label.
Furthermore, please check that power supply is correct for the motor and pump.
Figs. 11-12: only operate the motor underwater.
Figs. 12.1-12.2: caution: the section of the electrical cable running downwards must be sized according to
its length and the current absorbed by the motor.
Fig. 13: Check the electrical system and the fuses before starting.
Fig. 14: before starting the pump, check that the electrical and mechanical parts are suitably protected.
If using a power generator, proceed as follows:
• starting: turn on the generator before the motor.
• stop: turn off the motor and then the generator.
After starting, measure:
• The operating current of the motor for each phase;
• The supply voltage when the motor is on;
Turn off the motor immediately if:
• Fig. 10: the rated current I
• Fig. 15: the tolerances in the supply voltage are not within–10% and +6% of the rated voltage V
• Fig. 12: imminent dry operation.
