5. Turn off the tool and rotate it 180 degrees.
Turn on the tool and allow it to find the
plumb position automatically. Mark the
position of the laser dot on wall A as II.

6. Measure the vertical distance between I
and II. The plumb accuracy is given by:
1/2 vertical distance between mark I and II
/ distance between the tripod positions
50ft (15M).
The specification is +/- 2.5mm over a 15m
distance, i.e. +/- 0.167mm per meter. If the
separation between two measured points
is 15 m and the measured distance
between mark I and II is larger than +/-
5mm, then the tool needs to be
recalibrated.
Vertical Calibration
Vertical calibration is better to be done using
the remote control, as this will eliminate the
need for the user to touch the tool keypad,
that introduces external force, and hence
affecting the accuracy of the vertical sensor
Using the Remote Control / Receiver-Detector
The GRL145HV can also be
operated using the RCR2
Remote Control / Receiver.
Its receiving (detecting)
function responds better to
the GRL145HV laser tools
CAL
rather than any other laser
receiver-detector. The
RCR2 allows accurate laser
beam detection outdoors or
under other conditions when
the beam is difficult to see.
The following diagram
illustrates the RCR2
remote control.

After checking for accuracy using the above
procedures, if the deviation is larger than +/-
0.167 mm /m. The tool needs to be
recalibrated.
1. Without disturbing the setup, use the
remote control. The vertical calibration
mode is then entered by pressing and
holding both I and II calibration buttons
together for about 5 seconds. Both the
remote and main tool will beep 3 times,
signifying that the tool is now in
calibration mode.
2. The slope UP and DOWN are the two
buttons for navigating the top dot up and
down respectively. The desired position is
the vertical mid-point between position I
and position II. Short press of the keys
move the dot in small steps while pressing
and holding each of them moves the dot in
bigger steps. A few small steps should be
all that are needed to move the laser dot
to the desired position.
3. When the dot is positioned to the desired
position, press and hold both I and II
calibration buttons together again for about
5 seconds. Both the remote and main tool
will beep twice, signifying the exit of the
calibration mode.
4. If the calibration successful, the tool will
reset itself, and is ready to use if the green
LED is on. If the calibration fails, the tool
will automatically shut itself down upon exit
of calibration mode. This can happen if the
correction required is 3 times larger than
the specification, i.e. larger than +/- 7.5mm
at 15m.
5. Repeat the vertical accuracy check
procedure and verify that the plumb
accuracy is within specification.
Environments of high electrostatic discharge
may cause unit malfunction and require user
reset.
