g) If dust extraction and collection devices
can be mounted, make sure that they are
connected and used properly. The use of a dust
extraction device may reduce risks caused by
dust.
4) Use and handling of the power tool
a) Do not force the device. Use the power tool
intended for your type of work in each case.
The use of the suitable power tool within the
stated range of performance makes working
more effective and safer.
b) Do not use a power tool with a damaged
switch. A power tool that cannot be switched
on or off any more is dangerous and must be
repaired.
c) Pull the plug out of the socket and/or
remove the battery before adjusting a tool,
changing accessories or putting the tool aside.
This precaution prevents the power tool from
being accidentally switched on.
d) Store power tools that are currently not
used out of the reach of children. Do not
allow persons to use the device if they are not
familiar with it or if they have not read
these instructions. Power tools are dangerous if
they are used by inexperienced persons.
e) Thoroughly maintain your power tool.
Check whether moving parts are working
properly and make sure that they are not
jamming. Also check whether parts are broken
or otherwise damaged in a way that may
affect the function of the power tool. Have
damaged parts repaired before
using the device. Many accidents are the result
of poorly maintained power tools.
f ) Keep the cutting tools sharp and clean.
Thoroughly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are jamming less often and are
easier to guide.
g) Use power tools, accessories, add-on tools,
etc. in accordance with these instructions and
in the way prescribed for the respective
type of tool. You should also consider the
working conditions and the work to be carried
out. The use of power tools for purposes other
than those intended for the respective tool may
result in dangerous situations.
5) Service
a) Only have your electric tool serviced by
trained personnel using genuine spare
parts only. This will ensure that the high
safety level of your machine is maintained.
4. Special safety information
Special safety directions for hedge trimmers
a) keep all body parts away from the blade. Do
not attempt to remove clippings while the blade
is operating or to hold on to material which is to
be cut. Only remove trapped clippings when the
tool is switched off. One moment of carelessness
in the usage of the hedge trimmer can lead to
severe injury.
b) Carry the hedge trimmer at the handle with
an idle blade. Always pull on the protective
cover during transport and storage of the hedge
trimmer. Careful handling of the tool reduces the
risk of injury from the blade.
c) Hold the power tool only on the insulated
handle surfaces, as the cutting blade may come
into contact with concealed power cables.
Contact between the cutting blade and a live
cable may render metallic components live and
result in an electric shock.
