Message Cause of problem
Regulator Volt too low Defective regulator, high load cur-
rent, battery cell short circuit or
poor connection between battery
and alternator
Regulator Volt too high Regulator defective
Ripple: Too low Lack of charging current
(combined with regulator voltages
less than 13 V).
Possible sources of trouble:
No V-belt, no excitation, open circuit
in charging cable
Ripple: Too high Problem with rectification
or windings
5.3 Voltmeter
Direct-current voltages of between 8 Volt and 16 Volt
can be measured between the battery terminals in the
Voltmeter operating mode.

5.4.1 Contrast
The contrast setting for the LCD display can be adjus-
ted in the menu item Contrast
ned by the key  and brightened by the key . The chan-
ged contrast is saved by pressing the Enter key E.
5.4.2 Language
In the Language menu, several languages are available
for selection. Only 6 languages appear on screen at
first. You can select further languages by pressing the 
or  keys. Entering the language and acknowledging by
pressing the Enter key E will immediately switch over
to the language that has been selected.
5.4.3 Dealer Address
You can enter your address in the menu item Dealer
Address. Your address will then be printed out with
the test results. 6 lines are available for your Dealer
Address. Up to 21 characters can be entered in each
line.
You can jump from entry point to entry point using the
Key . Use the keys  and  to select characters from
the character set provided.
