2.2. SAFETY SIGNS
WARNING:
Read the instructions before operating 
the machine.
CAUTION:
Do not put hands or feet near or under 
the  opening  of  the  cutting  means. 
Disconnect the spark plug cap and read 
the instructions before carrying out any 
maintenance or repairs.
DANGER! Risk of thrown objects. Keep 
all  persons  away  from  the  work  area 
whilst working.
DANGER!  Danger  of  cutting  yourself. 
Cutting  means  in  motion.  Do  not  put 
hands or feet near or under the opening 
of the cutting means.
IMPORTANT Damaged or illegible labels must be replaced..
Order replacement decals from an authorised service centre.

ASSEMBLY
IMPORTANT Unpacking and assembly must be carried out
on a flat, solid surface with sufficient space to move the machine
and the packaging.

CONTROLS
• Starter control
- Type I: Manual starter hand grip (Fig. 5). Enables manual 
starting of the engine
- Type  II:  Push-button  electric  starter  control  (Fig.  6). 
Enables electrical starting of the engine
• Operator presence lever
This lever is used to engage the cutting device and the drive. 
The engine stops when the lever is released (Fig. 7).
• Drive engagement lever (if provided)
This  engages  the  wheel  drive  and  allows  the  machine  to 
move forward (Fig. 8).
IMPORTANT The engine must always be running with the
drive disengaged.
IMPORTANT To prevent damage to the transmission, do not
pull the machine backwards with the drive engaged.
• Cutting height adjustment
By  lowering  or  raising  the  chassis  the  grass  can  be  cut  at 
different heights. (Fig. 9)
IMPORTANT This operation must be carried out when the
cutting device is stationary.

USING THE MACHINE

IMPORTANT For instructions regarding the engine and the
battery (if supplied), read the relevant manuals.
5.1. PRELIMINARY PROCEDURES
Place the machine in a stable horizontal position on the ground.
• Filling up with oil and fuel
IMPORTANT The machine is supplied without engine oil or
fuel.
Refuelling shall take place with the machine
switched off and the spark plug cable
disconnected.
Proceed  to  refuel  and  check/top-up  engine  oil  according 
to  the  procedures  and  precautions  outlined  in  the  engine 
instruction manual.
• Preparing the machine before starting work
IMPORTANT Carry out this operation with the cutting de-
vice stationary.
With this machine, it is possible to mow the lawn in several ways:
• Setting  up  for  cutting  the  grass  and  collecting  it  in  the 
grass catcher (Fig. 10)
• Setting up for cutting and rear grass discharge onto the 
ground (Fig. 11)
• Setting up for cutting and shredding the grass ('mulching' 
function) (Fig. 12)
• Setting  up  for  cutting  and  lateral  grass  discharge  onto 
the ground (Fig. 13)
5.2. SAFETY CHECKS
• Check the integrity and correct assembly of all machine 
components;
• Make sure that all fasteners are tightened correctly;
• Keep every surface of the machine clean and dry.
Action
1. Start the machine.
2. Release  the  engine  /  cutting 
means brake lever.
1. Start the machine.
2. Engage the drive lever.
3. Disengage the drive lever.
1. Test drive.
If any of the results fail to match the indications
provided in the tables, do not use the machine!
Contact a service centre to have it checked and
repaired if necessary.

Result
1. The  cutting  means  should 
move.
2. The levers must return to the 
neutral position automatically 
and quickly, the engine must 
switch  off  and  the  cutting 
device must stop within a few 
seconds.
2.  The machine moves forward.
3.  The  machine  comes  to  a 
standstill.
1. No  abnormal  vibrations.  No 
abnormal sound.
