Witter PG23B Instructions De Montage

MATERIALS
A 1 Towbar Mainframe
C 1 Centre Tube with European facing to 94/20/EC A50-1
C1 2 Side Arms (1 left hand, 1 right hand)
D 4 M10 x 65mm Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers and 8 large Flat Washers (30mm O.D.)
D1 2 Bushes (25mm O.D. - 25mm long)
E 1 M8 Nut, Lock Washer and large Flat Washer (25mm O.D.)
F 2 M10 Nuts, Lock Washers and large Flat Washers (30mm O.D.)
F1 2 Spreader Plates with Captive Bolts (M10 x 30mm)
G 3 M12 x 40mm Bolts and Lock Washers
CB 2 M16 x 50mm Coupling Bolts, Nuts and Lock Washers
Z 1 ZEP35 Electrical plate (not shown)
FITTING
1. No need to remove bumper, however a cut may be required - See sketch. Remove spare wheel and nut and washer from
inboard stud of rear exhaust mounting bracket.
2. Offer up Towbar Mainframe (A) and loosely attach to exhaust mounting stud and adjacent stud, using existing nut at (X)
and Nut (E) with large flat washer supplied.
3. Temporarily remove large rubber grommets from inside boot floor. Insert Spreader Plates (F1) into box section with bolts
through hole in lower face, outboard of the suspension mounting bolts, and loosely attach Side Arms (C1) using Nuts and
washers (F).
4. Loosely attach Towbar Mainframe (A) to Side Arms (C1) using Bolts (D), sandwiching vehicle chassis flange and Bushes
(D1) at forward most Bolts. Note: - It maybe necessary to use spacer washers (D) between Mainframe (A) and chassis.
5. Attach Centre Tube (C) with Bolts (G), tighten all bolts and refit spare wheel.
Note: When not towing and to avoid number plate obscuration, remove Centre Tube (C) using Vehicle wheelbrace. When towing
and where fitted, remove blanking plate in front bumper to provide additional cooling. See sketch.
This towbar must be used with either a Witter Towball (part number Z1) or Class A50-1 or A50-X towball dimensionally
Conforming to A50-1 with a 'D' and 'S' value greater than or equal to that of the towbar.
Please refer to the vehicle specification for the trailer weight and nose limits, which must be observed.
Recommended torque settings: M8 - 27Nm, M10 - 53 Nm, M12 - 95 Nm , M14 - 150 Nm, M16 - 214 Nm
