INSTRUCTION MANUAL
General description
This compact DMX controller can control 54 channels in total which are spread over 9 groups
(projectors) with a maximum of 6 channels per group. The outgoing DMX addresses are pre-set to:
Projector 1 : addresses 1 to 6; Projector 2: addresses 7 to 12, etc. You only need to set the
appropriate start address on the connected equipment , i.e. 1, 7, 13, 25 etc. There are 6 functions
max. per start address available. This SkyTec DMX controller has a built-in memory for 9 different
programs of 50 steps each (scenes) allowing automatic control of different light effects. In each of
these scenes (steps) you can determine a combination of settings for the position of the mirror, the
light colour or the light intensity. When you run these steps in sequence, the connected disco light
effects produce the requested light pattern.
Connection
Connect the controller to the disco light effects (projectors or dimmer packs) via XLR leads. Set the
correct DMX start addresses on the connected units. Example: You have two DMX projectors and 3
DMX dimmer packs. Set the DMX addresses on these units to 1, 7, 13, 19 and 25.
Plug the mains adapter into the socket on the rear side and into a mains outlet. Switch the controller
on via the power switch at the rear side. A short confirmation signal is heard and the controller runs a
short test program after which the displays shows 0000.
Set up
The SkyTec DMX controller offers the possibility to couple the signals of the outgoing channels i.e. a
projector which is connected to group 3 (address 13) can run in a program that is controlled by group 1
(projector 1 on address no. 1). Keep the SELECT button pushed in until the message SET is
displayed. Once this message has disappeared after 4 seconds, you can select via the UP/DOWN
buttons the number of the light effect that you wish to couple. The selection is activated by pressing
the INSERT button. The SCENE display shows ON. Press the DELETE button to switch this function
off. OFF is now displayed. Shortly press the SELECT button to leave the set up mode.
Manual Operation
You can operate the connected light effects manually via the slider controls 1 to 6. Shortly press the
PROGRAM button until the display shows 0000. Push now the 'PROJECTOR' button. The displayed
figure becomes a '1' with a dot next to it. This dot means that you can change the setting. Select the
required unit via the buttons 'UP' and 'DOWN'. Set the light effect via the slider controls. Depending on
the connected light effect units, these controls allow you to set 256 steps on all used channels. It can
be the position of a mirror, a colour or the light intensity of a running light. To switch the manual
operation off, push the PROJECTOR button until 0 is displayed again.
