InPro 4501 pH Combination Electrode
7. Maintenance
– Electrodes with Xerolyt Plus polymer electrolyte cannot be
refilled.
– Electrodes should not be stored dry for any period of time
– During storage, the watering cap should be in place, filled
with Friscolyt
– Never store an electrode in distilled or deionized water, as
this shortens the lifetime of the electrode.
– Should the electrode dry out, it must be conditioned for
24 hours in Friscolyt (ordering no. 51 2340 053 for 250 mL,
or 51 340 054 for 6 x 250 mL) before reuse. After condition-
ing, recalibration is required.
– After each workcycle, the tip of the electrode should be
cleaned using de-ionized water.
ATTENTION: D o not under any circumstance use METTLER
8. Diagnostics
The electrodes are equipped with a grounding ring which al-
lows a diagnostic of the diaphragm condition. If this diaphragm
(open junction) should become clogged or if the reference re-
sistance exceeds a certain value (see transmitter operation
manual), it is then necessary to replace the electrode. Elec-
trodes of the InPro 4501 family should as a general rule not be
cleaned with acidic cleaning solutions, e.g. diaphragm clean-
ing solution, reactivation solution, etc. However, by extremely
careful application, it is possible to reactivate the glass mem-
brane, see «point 9» below.
9. Troubleshooting (sluggish response time, insuffi-
cient sensitivity, etc.)
ATTENTION: The glass membrane must be very cautiously
dabbed with HF solution using a fine brush and taking care that
solution does not come into contact with the titanium pin (me-
tallic solution ground). Also check the electrode connector
(only VP version) for possible traces of moisture. If necessary,
clean well using deionized water or alcohol, and afterwards
dry carefully.
10. Disposal
Dispose of InPro 4501 family electrodes in accordance with
local or state regulations.
11. Guarantee
METTLER TOLEDO grants 12 months warranty covering manu-
facturing defects, valid from the date of production of the elec-
trode.

T OLEDO reactivating solution (ordering no.
