12.8. Switching off the ring tone
 Hold down the
No ring tone will sound when a call is now received; it will only be indicated
on the display.
 To switch the ring tone back on again, hold down the

12.9. Functions during a call

12.9.1. Changing the earpiece volume
In order to change the volume during a call, proceed as follows:
 Press the  keys during a call to decrease or increase the earpiece
volume.
The volume level is shown on the display. There are five different levels.
When the call is ended, the level that was set will be applied.

12.9.2. Hands-free function

 Press the
key during the call. The loudspeaker is switched on and the
symbol will be shown on the display. You can put the handset down
and yet still hear the caller.
 Press the
key again to deactivate the loudspeaker.
12.9.3. Switching the telephone to mute
 Press the C key during a call to switch the telephone to mute.
The microphone is switched off and the caller cannot hear you. MUTED
appears on the display when this function has been activated.
 Press the C key again to switch on the microphone.
12.9.4. Recall key
The R-key has a function if your telephone is connected to a switchboard
or if you want to use special features on your telephone network. Typical
applications for the R key are call waiting, recall, call toggling and three-way
conference with at least two external parties.
The R key interrupts the line connection for a few milliseconds. The duration
of the interruption is set using the flash time function. This interruption
signals the exchange that the following sounds in multi-frequency selection
procedures are commands to the exchange.
