Lifting from a sitting position
1 Ask the user to lean forwards, and support them if necessary.
Slide the sling down with the lower edge to the user's coccyx.
The upper part of the sling supports the user's head.
2 Pull the leg supports forwards and position them under the user's thighs.
3 Make sure the lifting straps are the same length on both sides,
and that the leg supports are positioned under the user's thighs
without any folds. Cross the leg loops by pulling one of the loops
through the other and connect all 4 lifting straps to the suspension.
Make sure the user is in a comfortable and secure position in the sling.
The user should be facing the hoist when being lifted from or to a
sitting position in a chair or wheelchair.

Lifting to a sitting position
When the user is lowered into a sitting position, the following
methods can be used so that the user is set down as far back in the
seat as possible (A or B):
A Push gently on the
user's knees to steer
them in towards the
backrest of the chair.
B Tilt the seat back-
wards slightly as the
user is lowered into it.
Remove the leg
supports by folding them under the sling and the user's thighs,
and pulling them out. Support the user if necessary, and then remove
the sling by carefully pulling it upwards.
Lifting from a lying position
1 Turn the user towards you so that they are lying in a stable position
on their side. Position the sling with the bottom edge in line with the
user's coccyx. Make sure the sling is centred on the user's back, and
that the top of the sling is supporting the user's head. Fold the sling
so that you can pull out the folded side after turning the user over
onto their back.

2 Pull the leg supports forwards and position them under the user's
thighs. Cross the lifting straps of the leg supports by pulling one of
the straps through the other, and connect all four lifting straps to the
suspension. Raise the user closer to a sitting position before lifting if
possible.
Lifting into a lying position
Lower the user into a sitting or lying position in the bed.
Pull out the leg supports towards the sides. Turn the user
towards you so that they are lying in a stable
position on their side. Roll the sling behind
the user's back, turn the user onto their
back and carefully pull the sling away.
