Removing the Access Panel
Remove the access panel as follows (see
Caution – As a safety precaution, the access panel is equipped with an interlock
switch that immediately shuts off system power when the access panel is opened.
Power off the system before you open the access panel to avoid losing data.
1. Disconnect from the system any cables that are attached to external devices, such
as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Caution – Pressing the power switch does not remove all power from the system; a
trickle voltage remains in the power supply. To remove all power from the system,
you must disconnect the system power cord.
2. Disconnect the system power cord to ensure all power is removed from the
system.
3. Remove the lock block (if installed) from the system back panel (see
page en-4).
The lock block is customer-installed and is shipped with the system in the accessory
kit box.
4. Press down on the two depressions on the top of the access panel while pulling
the top of the access panel away from the system chassis.
5. Disengage the hooks on the access panel bottom from the chassis and set aside the
access panel.
Attaching an Antistatic Wrist Strap
Caution – Always wear an antistatic wrist strap when handling internal
components to equalize all electrical potentials within the system.
Attach an antistatic wrist strap as follows (see
1. Unwrap the first two folds of the wrist strap and wrap the adhesive side firmly
against your wrist.
2. Peel the liner from the copper foil at the opposite end of the wrist strap.
3. Attach the copper foil end of the wrist strap to the system chassis to provide
