For Your Safety

Working safely with this machine
is possible only when the operat-
ing and safety information are read
completely and the instructions
contained therein are strictly fol-
lowed.
In addition, the general safety in-
structions in the enclosed booklet
must be followed. Before using for
the first time, ask for a practical
demonstration.
If the cable is damaged or cut
through while working, do not touch
the cable but immediately pull the
mains plug. Never use the machine
with a damaged cable.
Wear protective goggles, ear protec-
tors and face mask.
Wear protective gloves and sturdy
shoes.
When necessary, also wear an
apron.
For long hair, wear hair protection. Work only
with close-fitting clothes.
The machine must not be operated without the
appropriate safety devices.
Always use the riving knife.
The swinging protective guard 16 must be able to
move freely and must not be jammed in the open
position.
For stationary use, the machine may be operated
only on a sawing table with an isolation switch for
protection.
Always lay the cable away from the machine to-
wards the rear.
Connect machines that are used in the open via
a residual current circuit breaker with a triggering
current of 30 mA maximum. Use only extension
cables that are intended for outdoor use and are
protected against splash water.
Put the plug into the mains socket only when the
machine is switched off.
Clamp the work-piece if it cannot be secured by
its own weight.
Do not leave clamping tools inserted.
When working with the machine, always hold it
firmly with both hands and provide for a secure
stance.
Apply the machine to the material only after it
has been switched on.
When working, always guide the machine away
from the body.
The cutting path must be free of obstacles on the
top and the bottom.
The saw blade should not protrude below the
workpiece more than 3 mm.
Keep hands away from the rotating saw blade.
Be careful not to come in contact with the rotat-
ing saw blade on the underside of the workpiece.
Do not stick fingers into the sawdust ejector 11.
Do not work overhead with the machine.
Do not cut into nails, screws, etc.
The dust that is produced while working is detri-
mental to health. Use dust extraction and wear a
dust mask.
Do not work with materials containing asbestos.
Protect saw blades against shocks and impacts.
Do not tilt the saw blade.
If the saw blade becomes jammed, switch off the
machine immediately.
The spindle locking button 9 may be pressed
only when the saw blade is at a standstill.
Do not stop the saw blade after switching off with
side pressure.
Always switch off the machine and allow to come
to a stop before putting down.
Use only sharp, flawless saw blades. Replace
immediately cracked, bent or dull saw blades.
Saw blades of highly alloyed, high-speed steel
(HSS-steel) must not be used.
The saw blade and riving knife must not become
stuck in the cut. The saw tooth offset must be
wider and the main body of the saw blade thinner
than the thickness of the riving knife.
Always remove the plug from the power supply
socket before carrying out any work on the ma-
chine, when interrupting work and when not us-
ing the machine.
Bosch can assure flawless functioning of the ma-
chine only when original accessories are used.
