INTRODUCTION
SKI TRAB thanks you for choosing this binding for your
ski touring equipment. We didn't stop at lightweight,
functionality and reliability of our TITAN VARIO.2
bindings, but introduced the concept of elasticity.
Elasticity is essential in a binding in order to improve
the quality of release as well as absorb and disperse
the shocks created by skiing at speed, especially
on hard or uneven snow; the binding must be able
to absorb vibrations and impacts that can cause
the binding to release while skiing. We recommend
skiing with the lever set in the descent position with
the TITAN VARIO.2, which allows frontal and lateral
release in case of a fall.
The front and side releases have a set calibration
which cannot be regulated. There are 3 versions with
different levels of release: The 9-11 is a binding with
very rigid front and lateral releases, while the 7-9 and
5-7 models offer progressively lower release forces.
A
revolutionary,
worldwide
patented
idea
characterises the toe unit. One simple component in
titanium specially designed in its shape and structure
links the two jaws in the toe unit. This extremely
simple mechanism offers a significant guarantee of
functionality and reliability.
This special elastic component in titanium permits
the toe unit to adapt perfectly to all types of boots,
guarantees that the boot remains fixed in place since
these two jaws are independent and very strong and
with the help of some particularly well finished and
crafted pins it can clean out the boot inserts during
use.
The heel unit as well as having a functional release
system has an innovative snap system that allows an
easy transition from an uphill to a downhill position.
The U-shaped spring in the heel unit is in special anti-
wear steel.
The heel unit is mounted on a plate with practical
slidable track providing an improved release standard.
The binding is available in a standard version with
24mm setting and in a rental version with 34mm
setting plate. A ski brake (ski stopper) is also available
which can be mounted subsequently.
The TITAN VARIO.2 binding is entirely designed and
manufactured in Italy.
100% MADE IN ITALY.
INSTRUCTIONS AND MAIN WARNINGS FOR USE
AND SAFETY
The TITAN VARIO.2 binding is from many points of
view a specialised piece of equipment, it is about a
product specially designed and developed for fast ski
touring and also for extreme use in ski touring races
where the need for lightweight, functionality and
practicality may prevail on comfort and safety.
Please note that the binding does not have a binding
release setting system and DOES NOT MEET ANY
DIN ISO SAFETY STANDARDS. The binding does
not comply with the international standard DIN ISO
13992.The user chooses to use this product at their
own risk, being aware that it is a special ski touring
binding that does not meet any safety regulation.
The user must be aware of the fact that ski touring,
like many other outdoor mountain activities, is a
dangerous sport where situations and conditions are
often unpredictable and/or hazardous, and can cause
harm to themselves and others.
The binding can be equipped with a ski stopper or
safety leash. It is important to know that loss of the
ski can happen for a number of reasons, for example:
it has not been properly attached, lateral release,
wear and tear of pins, dirt and/or ice in the boot, worn
boot inserts, particular stresses on the binding, falls.
SKI TRAB declines responsibility for damages to third
parties as a result of the loss of a ski. The user must be
aware that after it has released the ski could continue
down the slope without stopping and be a danger to
other people.
If a ski stopper is not attached, it is strongly advised
not to use this product on piste. SKI TRAB sells safety
leashes to attach to the boot in order not to lose a ski
during a fall, however the use of a safety leash may
cause injury to the user and is used at the skier's own
risk.
Before every use check that the ski binding and the
boot are functioning correctly and that there are no
missing or damaged components. If necessary, take
equipment to be checked over by an authorized vendor.
Do not go ski touring or stop skiing immediately if you
have doubts about how the binding is working or if the
state of the binding/boot does not seem adequate.
Intensive use, dirt, inadequate storage, prolonged
lack of / incorrect use and worn out boots can affect
the correct working and release of the binding;
therefore have your equipment regularly checked by
an authorized vendor. The release value of the binding
must be checked with an appropriate measuring
device by a specialized vendor.
SKI TRAB declines all responsibility for Do-It-Yourself
regulation or modification of the product. Always take
equipment to an authorized vendor.
