Main shaft lock

Fig. 4-22 Pedal of main shaft lock
The main shaft is locked when the pedal is depressed.
This facilitates tightening or untightening of the
clamping nut and retains the wheel in the correction
position for correct fi tting of the balance weights.
Note:
This lock is designed only to facilitate orientation
of the wheel and must not be used for braking the
main shaft.
The pedal also controls the Power Clamp, for clamping
the wheel on the balancer.
— Lift the pedal so as to clamp or unclamp the wheel.
— Depress the pedal to actuate the main shaft lock,
thus locating the main shaft.

Clamping a wheel
Fig. 4-23
The main shaft lock pedal has two functions
A
PEDAL DOWN: Stopping rotation
PEDAL UP:
POWER CLAMP lock
The pedal in addition to the brake has a control function
for the POWER CLAMP device (and the wheel Lifter
if present), for clamping and removing the wheel on
the balancer.
Each time the pedal is moved UP, the Power Clamp
alternatively releases or clamps the wheel on the
balancer.
Only for models with wheel lifter:
The platform of the lifter (if present) is operated
by the pedal simultaneously with the POWER
CLAMP command and moves vertically to
support the wheel. The platform DESCENDS
during wheel clamping, then RISES during
wheel release.
