Measuring conditions

Range of detection
The range of detection is 50 metres / 35 metres, depending on the model. Night time,
dusk and shade enhance the reflectivity of the measured object. At daylight or low laser
reflection a target surface may be used to enhance the reflectivity.
Target surface
A target surface is an auxiliary device to help facilitate measurements when the laser
reflection rate is too low. A target surface enhances the reflectivity.
Object surface
Measuring errors can occur when the laser beams through transparent liquids (i.e. water),
glass, transparent or semi-transparent materials. High gloss surfaces can scatter the laser
beam and cause measuring errors.
The measurement of reflective surfaces does not normally cause measuring errors.

Maintenance and disposal

Cleaning
Clean the device with a soft, damp cloth if necessary. Keep the device dry and clean.
Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaning agents.
Remove the batteries from the device if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of
time to avoid damage caused by leaking batteries. The device is otherwise maintenance
free.
Spent bateries
Spent batteries should not be left in the device as these corrode and can release
chemicals, which are toxic and can damage the device. Remove the batteries from the
device if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of time. Damaged or spent
batteries can cause cause irritation after contact with skin, always wear suitable gloves
and protective glasses.
