Note regarding use of the knee brace
Please heed the specifications of your
physician when using the knee brace,
especially with respect to stressing the
leg and to knee flexibility.
In general, stress the operated leg only
in the extended position - the knee
brace joints are locked in the extended
position (red area in the joint window).
This applies until your physician
instructs otherwise.
When the brace is not stressed (e.g.
when you are sitting or lying down), you
can unlock the joints (green area in the
joint window) and bend your leg to the
®
extent permitted by your physician.
BEFORE GETTING UP, however, make
sure that the joints are locked in the
extended setting and then stand up
with your leg stretched (Fig. A-D). One
click and the additional display (red pin
is visible on the front edge of the joint)
confirms that the mechanism has been
snapped in correctly.
Setting the flexion / extension limits
Extension limit wedge, silver:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Flexion limit wedge, black:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Can be immobilised at:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
For immobilisation, first insert the
extension wedge and then the flexion
wedge. For removal please proceed in
the reverse order.
1 Your knee brace is provided with
pre-installed 0° extension wedges.
2 In order to change the wedges, press
the joint cover on the rear side (see
profile) outwards.
3. You can change the wedges by
removing the tweezers from the joint
cover and pulling the wedges
forwards (extension) or backwards
(flexion) out of the joint using the
tweezers. The wedges are accordingly
labelled with „FLEX" or „EXT" and the
corresponding degree. The wedges
may also be distinguished by the
colour. Extension wedges are silver,
flexion wedges are black.
Push the new wedge from the front
side (extension) or from the back
(flexion) into the joint, so the
markings „UP" on the joint and the
wedge are matched accordingly.
Upon proper locking you will hear a
click sound.
4. Move the joints of the orthosis to
check the position of the wedges. Put
the tweezers back into the mounting
and attach the joint covers by hooking
