Evaporating residual water
CAUTION:
If you leave the appliance
unused for long periods,
germs - possibly formed in the residu-
al water - can cause health hazards. If
the appliance is subjected to freezing
temperatures, frozen residual water can
damage single functionalities as well as
the appliance in total. To prevent both
cases you should empty the appliance
by steaming out the residual water.
WARNING:
When steaming out, hot steam
(up to 250 °F / 120 °C) and
hot water are produced - scalding haz-
ard. Never reach under the spout, and
remain a safe distance away from the
spout. The collecting container under
the spout contains extremely hot water
- please handle with care.
Switch the appliance off by pressing

the on/off button. After this, open and
close the lever to eject any pod which
might have been inserted.

Empty the water tank, replace it in the

appliance and place a container under the
spout, which is suitable for very hot water.
Now press and hold the hot water and

espresso buttons simultaneously, keep
both buttons pressed down and press the
on/off button until the hot water button
blinks. Then release all buttons. The ap-
pliance will now steam all the residual wa-
ter out. The appliance will automatically
switch to OFF after steaming.

WARNING: Very hot water
– scalding hazard.
Now carefully empty the heat-safe cup

containing very hot water.

Remove the drip tray and the used pod
5
container and empty them. Remove the
water tank.

Clean and dry all the components
6
thoroughly.

Unplug the appliance. Carefully lift the
7
handle and clean the appliance from out-
side using a moist cloth. After this, close
the handle completely again and replace
all components.

Finally don't forget to empty, clean and
8
dry the frother (see page 21)

Only use water, dish soap and a
mild cloth. Never use scouring
agents or aggressive cleansing agents.
Never wash appliance components in
the dishwasher - risk of damage.
