4. Now install the holder under the halter, or, if desi-

mare's halter, it is important that the holder is secured
reasonably tightly under the jaw of the mare. (When the
mare is holding its head upright, EquiAlarm should
hang in a fairly horizontal position)

Troubleshooting List

The EquiAlarm does nothing at all:
• Empty/low batteries?
» Install new batteries every season. Always replace all 3
batteries at the same time. If, for example, you fit 2 new
batteries and leave 1 old one in place, this considerably
hinders the operation of the device
• Batteries installed correctly?
» The batteries should be installed as illustrated on the base of
the battery holder. The "-" pole is furthermore always placed
on the spring
(see § 5.1)
• Has the cover been correctly fitted on to the EquiAlarm?
» The cover of the EquiAlarm only fits onto the EquiAlarm in
one way. The light guides in the cover should be situated
above the LEDs so that the coloured light of the GSM and
status LEDs visible.
(see § 5.2)
The EquiAlarm fails to establish a network connection: (i.e.
the GSM LED continues to blink rapidly and the STATUS LED
only flashes blue).
• H as the SIM card been set up so that a PIN is required at
start-up?
» When you insert the SIM into your own telephone and switch
your handset on, the telephone must not ask for a PIN when
switched on. If it does ask for a PIN, this feature must be
deactivated. (Setting the PIN code to "0000" is not enough!
The PIN code security feature must be fully switched off). Con-
sult the manual for your mobile telephone for instructions on
how to do this. If it is not possible to deactivate the SIM lock
(see § 3.2)
(see § 11)
(You can easily
(see § 5.1)
Maintenance:
1. Check that the battery level is sufficient occasionally
when visiting your mare. You can do this quickly by
checking the colour of the status LED. This should flash
green once every eight seconds. If you see a red flash
also, you need to replace the batteries. (Always replace
all 3 batteries simultaneously. Rechargeable batteries
should not be used!)
2. Check the credit on the SIM card occasionally. In
order to do this, remove the SIM card from the
EquiAlarm and insert it into your own mobile telephone.
Next, call the credit/top-up service line for your provider
and follow the instructions.
feature on your own phone, you will be unable to perform
this step of the procedure. You must therefore use a handset
that does not have a SIM lock, or visit a telecoms store to
have the feature deactivated.
• Has the SIM card been activated?
» When you use a new SIM card for the first time, you must use
it to make a call on your own mobile telephone. In order to
do so, you must insert the SIM into your own telephone and
then attempt to call another random number using your
telephone.
(see § 6)
• Has the SIM card expired?
» If you do not use or top up the SIM card for a period of six
months or a year, it may be the case that the provider has
blocked the SIM card. You will then need to purchase a new
SIM card. For the precise terms and conditions, please refer to
your SIM card provider.
• Has the SIM card been inserted correctly into the holder?
» The SIM card only fits into the EquiAlarm in one way. Check
whether it has been inserted correctly
• Can you make a call with the SIM card being used?
» Check whether you are able to connect to the GSM network
with your own telephone and also check whether you can
make a call. If the coverage offered by the provider is insuf-
ficient, it is possible that you may need to choose a different
provider.
