Installation and connection
During installation, the EMERGENCY OFF button must be in a position that is easy to
•
reach. This is especially the case for EMERGENCY OFF buttons with a high protective col-
lar!
•
When using illuminated operating elements, maximum 230 V AC is permitted to be con-
nected to the switching elements.
Panel mount version
Drill mounting holes in the mounting plate (see illustration SNH 00xx on page 74).
Insert the operating element through the mounting hole and fasten it with the lock nut
(see Section 7.1 "Tightening torques for the fixing nuts" on page 18).
Attach the switching element and turn this clockwise by one eighth of a turn. The swit-
ching element engages.
Check that the actuator unit and the switch unit are correctly engaged with each other.
Check whether the contacts of the failure switch-off are closed when the switching ele-
ment is engaged and the operating element is not actuated.
Connect the connecting wires to the terminal blocks. In doing so, note the permitted
electrical and mechanical values (see Chapter 7 "Technical data" on page 18).
Surface-mounted version
Mount the bottom part of the case on a flat surface (see Fig. SNH 6001 on page 73 for the
drilled hole spacing).
Perform steps 2 to 6 as with the built-in version.
Insert the connecting wire through one of the two M20 cable entries.
Connect the connecting wires to the terminal blocks. In doing so, note the permitted
electrical and mechanical values (see Chapter 7 "Technical data" on page 18).
Furthermore, make sure the contactors in the housing are properly connected so that
during intended use the clearance and creepage distances are observed.
Close the housing and connect the screws. Ensure that housing is closed tightly.

Check before initial commissioning
Mechanical function check
•
− The operating element is fastened so that it cannot twist.
− The mounting nut is tightened so that no play in the longitudinal direction is discerni-
ble.
− EMERGENCY OFF is locked when actuated.
•
Electrical function check
− Start machine.
− Actuate operating element.
Check that the machine stops!
Check whether the machine stops when the EMERGENCY STOP button is pressed.
