DIGITAL PROGRAMMED FLASH

A ward on digital programmed (DP) flash
1
A new function which allows the camera judging the photograph -
ing conditions and automatically adjusting the quantity of light
emitted by the flash according to three different data (the bright-
ness of the subject, the distance, and the focallength of the lens).
The flash always tires automatically unless otherwise the subject
is bright or tao far. This programmed flash allows anyone to take
clean pictures simply.
Sorne practical examples are introduced ta explain the affects.

Close-up photography in a room or night scene
When close-up pictures are laken in a dim place with an
ordinary flash ,
it fi
res in 100 % light quantity. As the re-
suit, the subject is blurred in white. The DP flash reduces
the light quantity dawn to 12.5 % of the ordinary quantity
(maximum), preventing pictures blurred in white .

Portrait photography at high brightness
When a persan is photographed in bright daylight, his

face is likely to be spotted with the shades of hair and
nose. Even in such a case, the OP flas h automatically
tires to reduce the shades. 1t seems unnecessary ta use
the fl ash in bright place. However, yeu will understand
the effect by comparing a picture ta ken with the flash used
and a picture taken without using the flash .

Photography against the sun
When a persan standing by a window or subject with back-
light is photographed, the subject becomes a shade and
an under-exposure may result. ln this case also, the DP
flash automatically provides the optimum light quantity so
that you can take beautiful plctures. ·
