2.3.1 Lifting from / to sitting position
The patient can be lifted from the sitting position according instructions below:
1. If the patient is lifted from a wheelchair, apply the brakes of the wheelchair and
remove the arm supports.
2. Spread out the sling and hold the handles to you.
3. Lean the patient a little bit forward and give the patient enough support.
4. Place the sling behind the back of the patient.
5. Press the bottom side of the sling to the seat of the chair. You can do this with your
palm.

6. Pull the legrest of the sling forward along the outside of the patient's thighs.

7. Put your palm between the sling and the body of the patient. Push the bottom side of
the legrest downwards to the seat of the chair.

8. Pull on the legrest until it is on the good place.
9. Repeat step 6 until 8 for the other legrest.
10. Pull on both legrests at the same time until all folds are out of the backrest. Check if
both legrests are of equal length.
11. Slightly lift the leg of the patient upwards. An easy way is to place the foot of the
patient on your knee.
12. Place the legrest below the thigh.
13. Repeat step 11 and 12 for the other legrest.
14. Choose the most suited method to attach the legrest: crossed legrest, crossed under
both thighs, each legrest separately on the spreader bar.

15. Check that all the mounting straps are of equal length. Adjust if needed.
16. Position the patient lift as close to the chair in the desired position.
17. Use the loops to mount the straps to the patient hoist. First place the straps of the
backrest

18. Now the patient can be moved to the desired place with the patient lift.
