1.0 User Controls and Display

1.2 Zero Switch
The zero switch is used to automatically zero the
optical power meter before making power level
measurements in the -45 to 60dBm (H series) or -55
to -70 dBm range. To zero the meter, fit a blanking
adapter to the sensor holder and then depress the
zero switch. On completion the LCD indicates -62.00
dBm (H series) or -72.00 dBm and UR (under range)
is displayed. NOTE. When making low level power
measurements in the last 10dB of dynamic range,
allow more time for the meter indication to settle due
to extra auto averaging.
1.1 ON/OFF Switch
To turn the unit on, depress
the ON/OFF switch. To
disable the Auto-Power-Off
during switch on, hold the
ON/OFF switch down until
the Auto-Off annunciator on
the LCD disappears. In
Auto-Power-Off mode, the
unit will power off after 15
minutes unless a switch is
pressed. To turn the unit
off,
press
the
ON/OFF
switch.
1.3 dBm / Watts Switch
The dBm /Watts switch selects the measurement
mode and returns the unit to dBm measurement
mode if dB REL is selected.
1.4 Wavelength Switch (λ)
The wavelength switch allows the correct wavelength
to be selected prior to making a measurement as
indicated on the small 4-digit display. NOTE: The
wavelength switch is disabled during dB REL
measurements
1.5 dB REL Switch
The dB REL switch allows measurements to be made
relative to the previously stored reference power
level, indicated on the small 4-digit display. All further
measurements will be referenced against this
previously stored power level. To store a new
reference power level, press and hold the dB REL
switch for 3 seconds. After the 3 second delay the
main 4-digit display will indicate 0.00 and the new
stored reference level will be indicated on the small 4-
digit display. To return to dBm measurement mode,
press the dBm/Watts switch.
