11. VACUUMING THE COOLING SYSTEM
When air and moisture is present in the cooling system, for example after installation, this can lead to
unwanted effects or cause damage as described below:
•
The pressure in the system rises.
•
Power consumption rises.
•
Cooling or heating efficiency drops.
•
Moisture in the refrigerant circuit can lead to frozen and blocked capillary pipes.
•
Water can cause corrosion of parts of the cooling system.
•
Damaged compressor
This is why the indoor unit and the piping between the indoor and outdoor unit always have to be vacu-
umed to remove air and moisture out of the system.
G
ATTENTION
Vacuuming of the refrigerant piping and the indoor unit of an air conditioner has to be done
according the applicable national statutory provisions. Vacuuming of the refrigerant piping and
the indoor unit may only be performed by a certified air conditioner technician.
12. CHECKING THE LEAK TIGHTNESS OF THE COOLING SYSTEM.
G
ATTENTION
Checking the leak tightness of the refrigerant piping and the indoor unit of an air conditioner
has to be done according the applicable national statutory requirements. Checking the leak
tightness of the refrigerant piping and the indoor unit may only be performed by an authorised
technician.
Ways to check the leak tightness of an air conditioner
•
Soapy water method: Apply soapy water or a liquid neutral cleaning agent on the fitting of the
indoor unit or the fittings of the outdoor unit with a soft brush and check for leaks at the fittings of
the piping. If air bubbles appear, the pipes are leaking.
•
Special leak detector: Use the leak detector to check for leaks.
13. ADDING REFRIGERANT WITH PIPE LENGTHS OVER 5 METER.
G
ATTENTION
Adding refrigerant to an air conditioner has to be done according the applicable national
statutory provisions. Adding refrigerant to an air conditioner may only be performed by an
authorised technician.
The air conditioner is filled with refrigerant in the factory, appropriate for a pipe length of maximum 5
meter.
If the refrigerant piping is longer than 5 meter, extra refrigerant has to be added to the air conditioner.
Refer to table 2 for an overview of the amount of refrigerant that needs to be added

14. TEST RUN AFTER INSTALLATION
Test the installation after confirmation of the save installation of the electrical and gas equipment. The test
run should be longer than 30 minutes.
Check all the functions during the test run. Check in particular if the condensed water drain from the indoor
unit is working properly.
