1 Description and Purpose
Application
These instructions are for the user.
The term device is used throughout these instructions for use to refer to Silcare Breathe Locking
Liner.
This device is an interface component for use only as a component of a lower limb prosthesis.
This device is a biocompatible, perforated locking liner that allows air and moisture to escape
through its perforations. During the gait cycle, a silicone valve provides vacuum suspension by
controlling airflow through the perforations on the distal cap.

2 Safety Information

This warning symbol highlights important safety information.
Unwanted material can stick to silicone and irritate skin.
The fabric can collect static electricity.
Users with sensitive skin, diabetes, and problems of the vascular system must examine the
condition of their residual limb and apply lubricant to sensitive areas.
To avoid danger of suffocation, keep the device away from babies and children.
Keep the device away from direct heat sources.
Enlarged perforations can trap the skin and cause blisters. If the perforations enlarge, stop
using the device and contact your practitioner.
Do not overtighten the locking pin.
If the residual limb has tissue damage, stop using the device, and contact your practitioner.
Do not pull or stretch the fabric.
Fingernails, sharp jewelry, and the locking pin can tear the device. Stop using the device if it
is torn or damaged.
Only use the device in combination with corrosion resisitant components.
Do not use alcohol sprays, household cleaners, or abrasives. These cleaning materials could
damage the device and irritate skin.
