4. Operating the system

4.1 Normal operation

In the large area wash basin, you can now wash out your tools such as brush, paint rollers or paint buckets. For this
purpose, STORCH offers a comprehensive range of accessories, e.g., the spray kit or the Turbo-Wash (see 5.3 Acces-
sories)
Attention: please only wash out water soluable paints and lacquers!
The washing water then runs through the 4-stage settling tank and is collected in the tank. In the basic version
(without pump), now the water raises until it runs through the DN 50 HT pipe installed at the top outlet on the side.
When using the immersion pump (see 5.1), the washing water is pumped out of the system after having run through
the 4-stage settling tank. In combination with the a separating system, the pump can be controlled via a switch when
required.
Attention: check the filling level display at regular intervals in order to avoid the tank from overflowing!

4.2 Cleaning the system

We recommend cleaning the system each time after a consumption of approx. 1,500 litres of washing water where the
foremost slurry tank contains the most slurry which is why it should be referenced when checking.
For this purpose, lift the wash area from the tank. Then open the drain cock on the left side of the tank and drain the
water. If you are working with a pump, this step is not necessary and you can convey the water out of the tank using
the pump.
In order to reduce the weight of the sedimentation tank, open the sealing plug mounted on the left side of each sedi-
mentation tank using a screwdriver or a coin and let the water drain. For removing the sedimentation tank, you have to
move the 2nd tank (as viewed from the front) to the left side first in order to lift it out (see Fig. 4). Then you can remo-
ve the foremost sedimentation tank and then both remaining ones.
Fig. 4 Removal of the sedimentation tanks
For cleaning the tank, pull the sliding vane out upwards
in order to make removing the paint slurry easier. After
cleaning, insert the tank back
into the system in the reverse order (insert the second
from the front last). Make sure that all sealing plugs are
closed. If you have not remove the water from the system
completely, you have to fill the sedimentation tank with
water otherwise the remaining water of the basin will not
sink into the basin. Make sure that the stop cock on the
left side of the system is closed and put the wash area
back onto the system. The system is now ready for opera-
tion again.

4.3 Slurry disposal

The slurry accumulating from the solid matters can generally be disposed of as domestic waste once it has dried. In
individual cases, this however depends on the paint you use. The extent to which limit values for harmful substances
can be exceeded must be clarified with your paint supplier.
