8.8 Cleaning the air filter

To avoid the risk of accidental start, disconnect the
spark plug cap.
- Pull the bobbin cover by firmly pressing the
retaining tabs on the thread spool (19)
from
- Remove the spool with the yarn waste and the
compression spring.
- Remove the used coil.
- Take the new thread spool and pull each 10 cm

from two threads out.
- Now insert the bobbin (19) on the tapered spring
and run both threads through each of the eyelets
on the bobbin case.
- Now insert the bobbin cover to the new bobbin.
Turn it so that the cutouts correspond to the
coverage of the coil eyelets in the bobbin housing.
- Now press the spool cover with the bobbin until
it snaps into the housing thread.
By the knife in cutting protection (15) of the trim
line is shortened to the correct length when the
machine starts up again.

After working for longer time, you should clean
the air filter (5). Dust and pollen plug up the pores
of the filter made of foamed plastic.
- Remove the cover (j), and wash the filter (k) in
j
mild soap water. Caution: Do not use any gasoline
or solvent.
- Dry the filter before you insert it again.
In order not to shorten the service life of the
engine, a damaged air filter must be replaced at
once.
