9 Expanding the Telephone System
The internationally recognised GAP
base stations from different manufacturers. This enables SWITEL equipment and that
from other manufacturers to be integrated in one telephone system.
Multiple handsets
Up to 5 handsets can be registered on the base station.
Registering handsets
Before beginning with the registration procedure for a handset, switch the relevant base
station to Register mode.
3 sec
Complete the registration process for your handset . Page 106. Use the PIN code cur-
rently set for the registration process . Page 106.
After being registered, the handset is assigned an internal call number. This internal call
number appears in the display.
To register handsets from other manufacturers, read the operating manual provi-
ded with the respetive handset.
Deregistering handsets
A handset registered on a base station can only be deregistered by another
handset registered to the same base station . Page 106.
Multiple base stations
The handsets can be simultaneously registered on up to 4 different base stations. Each
base station requires its own telephone line socket. Connections with the same or diffe-
rent call numbers can be used.
Calls in progress, however, cannot be transferred from one base station to
another.
Increasing the range
Position the base stations so that the ranges of the individual base stations overlap. Test
the range of your handsets because obstructions in buildings restrict the range. Register
the handset on all the base stations. Activate the Select Base function on the base sta-
tions . Page 106. The handset automatically searches for the nearest base station with
the best connection.
Mobility through different installation locations
Register the handset on various base stations at different locations. Activate the Select
Base function on the base stations . Page 106. Regardless of your current location, the
handset automatically searches for a base station in range.
