Installing the rechargeable battery
Using a screwdriver, remove the cover of the
2
Carrera RC boat.
Put the battery in place.
3
Charging the rechargeable
battery via computer
Take care only to charge the Lithium-Ion battery sup-
4
plied with the Lithium-Ion charging unit (USB charger
cable) also supplied.
If you attempt to recharge the battery with any other
Lithium-Ion battery charger or any other type of
charger, this may result in serious damage.
You can recharge the rechargeable battery with the
respective USB charger cable from a USB port of a
computer:
• Connect the USB charger cable with the USB port of a
computer
. The LED on the USB charger cable lights
green and indicates that the charger is correctly connected
to the computer. If you plug in a model that has an empty
battery, the LED on the USB charging cable no longer
lights up, and shows that the battery is being recharged.
The USB charging cable and the charging socket on the
model are designed to make incorrect connection impossi-
ble.
• It lasts about 90 minutes to recharge a discharged (NOT a
deep-discharged) battery. When the battery is fully
charged, the LED display on the USB charger cable lights
green again.
Note: when delivered, the Lithium-Ion rechargeable bat-
tery contained is already part-charged, so the first
charging operation will not last so long.
Always recharge the battery after use to prevent its be-
coming completely discharged. After use, the battery
must be allowed to cool down for at least 20 minutes
before it can be fully recharged. Failure to observe this
pause may damage the battery. Recharge the battery
occasionally (suggested every 2–3 months).
Failure to treat the battery as described above can lead
to its becoming defective.
Inserting the batteries
Open the battery compartment with a screwdriver
5
and insert the batteries in the controller. Please keep
in mind the correct polarity. After having closed the
compartment you can check all functions of the re-
mote control with the help of the power-switch on the
front. With the power-switch turned ON and proper
functioning, the top centre LED on the controller will
light up red.
Now you can drive the boat
The Carrera RC boat and the controller are bonded
6
at the factory.
Connect the plug-in connection at the model and
switch on the model at the ON/OFF switch.
Replace the compartment cover using a screwdriver.
7
Please note that the propellers and the boat have
8a
no function out of the water.
The controller must be switched off.
Place the boat in the water.
8b
Switch on the controller. The LED on top of the con-
troller will flash rhythmically.
After a few seconds, the LED on the controller lights
continuously. Meaning the boat and controller are
paired.
Let's practise!
Caution: this boat can reach speeds up to 10
9
km/h.
When first starting, be very careful when operating
the gas pedal. Practice running slowly for at least
two to three full charges of the battery before you
start practising faster manoeuvres.
• Before launching from the bank, make sure
the boat and the controller are connected (see
above)
• Avoid constant motor operation
• Bring the boat back to the bank after about 10 -
15 minutes to change the battery
• After use, remove or disconnect the battery
• After the run, turn the switch under the boat's
cover back to OFF
• Never run more than 2 batteries down one
after the other. After running down two fully-
charged batteries, a pause in running for at
least 20 minutes is essential
• After sailing it, clean the Carrera RC boat care-
fully
• Always recharge the battery immediately after
use to prevent its becoming deep discharged
• Always keep the Carrera RC battery stored
outside the boat
Controller functions
You can use the joysticks to carry out precise steer-
10
ing and driving manoeuvres.
Joystick on left: Forwards running at different speeds
Joystick on right: left/right
Adjusting the steering
11
If the model is found to pull to left or right when run-
ning, the adjuster switch shown in the illustration can
be used to correct the model's track.
Thanks to 2.4GHz technology, up to 16 boats can be
12
operated on one course at the same time. This is
possible even without harmonizing frequencies
between the racing drivers.
Battery lever check
When the boat's battery is almost flat, the boat stops
13
for about five seconds. It can then operate again for
20 seconds.
The five-second switch-off and restart for 20 seconds
following is repeated five times altogether, then the
boat switches off completely.
WARNING! After the first stop, please head directly for
the bank without delay and replace the battery immedi-
ately.
Troubleshooting
Problem
Boat does not move
Cause: The boat is not in the water.
Solution: Switch on the boat and place it in the water.
Please note that the propellers and the boat have no
function out of the water.
Cause: Either the switch on the controller or the boat is set
to OFF.
Solution: Switch on
Cause: There is no rechargeable battery in the boat or the
battery is too weak.
Solution: Insert charged battery
Cause: The overheat protection has caused the boat's motor
to cut out due to excess temperature.
Solution: Switch off the receiver.
Leave the RC boat to cool down for approx. 30 minutes.
5
Cause: The battery or rechargeable battery in the transmitter
or boat is too weak.
Solution: Insert new battery or recharged battery.
Cause: The boat is very warm.
Solution: Allow the RC boat to cool down for about 30 min-
utes.
Cause: The controller is possibly not correctly connected
with the receiver in the model.
Solution: Establish contact between model and controller
as described under "Now you can drive the boat".
Problem
Boat cannot be controlled.
Cause: Boat starts moving unintentionally.
Solution: First switch on the boat, then the controller.
Solution: Please replace the batteries in the controller or
switch the controller on.
