Firmware update
Firmware update
This document explains the procedure for updating the firmware of the unit.
Update process
To load firmware to the unit the memory card must be SD HC (High Capacity).
Do not load the firmware in the rain. To insert the memory card in the inverter it is necessary to
release the card reader protector, thus the unit protection rating for external elements is diminished
until said element is reinstalled.
These units have two pieces of firmware to update: the firmware of the display and that of the inverter.
You must follow separate processes for each update. If you wish to update both, first run the update for the display and
then that of the inverter.
Only save the files corresponding to the update to be performed on the memory card.
Follow the process indicated for each of the updates (display first, inverter second):

Check the version of firmware installed in the inverter using the display, accessing Main menu > Inverter
data > FW version.

The firmware is updated using a SD HC type memory card (not supplied by Ingeteam). There must be a
card of this type in FAT32 format. The card must be formatted and must not contain any files.

To download the latest firmware available go to the Ingeteam website (www.ingeteam.com). On the
website, access Energy > PV energy, go to the inverter model section and then to the Downloads area. Here you
will find the .rar or .zip file containing the files necessary to load the firmware. It is important to differentiate
between TL M and TL units as the files are different.

Extract the two files included in the file you have downloaded with extensions .hex and .sdc, to the root
directory of the memory card. The name of the file shall be of the type XXXXXXX_z.hex, where _z indicates the
version of the file. The first version will be _ and will continue with _A, _B, etc.

With the inverter running, open the cover of the card reader and insert the SD card.

In a few seconds the inverter automatically recognises the firmware and starts the update process. The
inverter disconnects from the grid causing a reason for shutdown due to firmware update. In the event a
problem appears in this step, read the section "Troubleshooting in the firmware loading process" that appears
subsequently.

A message will be displayed on screen confirming that the firmware is being loaded. Do not remove the
memory card.
