Non-cartridge Disc Write Setting
Click on the "Non-cartridge Disc Write Setting" button in the window on page 79.
The following window appears.
To prohibit writing to non-cartridge discs.
Discs will be treated as read only discs.
Enables writing to non-cartridge discs.
Discs will be treated as read-write discs.
Note:
Occasionally, the drive may not allow you to copy to a disc or reformat it. The following describes
possible causes and solutions for when this occurs.
Cause
The tab on the cartridge is set to write-
protect.
Software has been used to write-protect
the non-cartridge disc.
The drive has been set to prohibit writing
to non-cartridge discs.
You are using a disc that cannot be used
for writing.
Drive has used most of the disc's spare
sectors for defect management. This
symptom typically occurs when the drive
lens or disc are dusty. In this condition,
the inserted disc will be write-protected.
(When this problem occurs, the green op-
eration lamp on the front of the drive will
blink 3 times per second.)
To set the selected mode (saves the setting to the drive)
Set the tab to write-enable.
Use the software to write-enable the disc. (See page
79)
Use the software to enable writing to non-cartridge
discs. (See above)
Some discs cannot be used for writing.
Try returning the disc to its cartridge.
Either use the disc for reading only, or clean the
disc (See page 11), back-up the data, and physical
format it. (See page 54)
