Safety instructions

2.1
Principles
Operations shall be carried out by
electricians and suitably trained
personnal in accordance with
EC 60079-14.
If the empty enclosures are used as
terminal or bus bar boxes, control
stations or distribution boxes, the
Operating Instructions GHG6607003P0004
shall be observed.
The requirements of the EN 61241-0 and -1
regarding excessive dust deposits and
temperature to be considered from the
user.
These empty enclosures may not be used
in hazardous areas without full
certification.
Even if they are fully
certified, they are not suitable for use in
Zone 0 and Zone 20.
After apparatus has been installed in the
empty enclosure, it shall be tested and
fully certified by a testing authority or
authorized person.
The national safety rules and regulations
for the prevention of accidents, as well as
the safety instructions included in these
operating instructions, that, like this text,
are set in italics, shall be observed.

Conformity with standar
Conformity with standar
The empty enclosures have been designed,
manufactured and tested by Cooper Crouse-
Hinds (CCH), according to the state of the art
and to DIN EN ISO 9001.
The apparat is conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity.
94/9 EC: Equipment and protective systems
intended for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres.

Design

Fully certified empty enclosures that have
been tested by a testing authority or
authorized person are suited for use
in hazardous areas in Zone 1/2 and Zone
21/22 in accordance with EC60079-10.
The materials used for the enclosures and
exterior metal parts, are high-quality
materials which ensure an appropriate
corrosion protection and resistance to
chemical substances according to the
requirements for use in a
"normal industrial atmosphere":
- sheet steel with plastic powder coating
- stainless steel V4 A AISI 316 L.
- EPDM
In case of use in an extremely aggresive
atmosphere, please refer to manufacturer
5
Use / Properties
The fully certified empty enclosures that have
been tested by a testing authority/authorized
person are used for the distribution of
electric energy.
e.g. light circuits, heating circuits, control
circuits, intrinsically safe circuits etc.(as to
temperature class, explosion group,
permissible ambient temperature, see
technical data).
The empty enclosures can also be used in a
„normal industrial area".
The data as per point 3 and 4 will have to
be taken into account with the use.
For the operation, the instructions stated in
section 7 of the operating instructions will
have to be observed.

Mounting
The empty-enlosures can be mounted
without opening their enclosure.
When mounting the terminal boxes directly
onto the wall, they shall rest evenly only on
the fastening points provided for them.
The chosen screw must match the fastening
hole.
To fix the enclosures, use all four fixing lugs
are provided. . . . .
6.2

Electrical connection

Before opening the apparatus, it is
necessary to ensure that there is no
voltage or to take suitable protective
measures.
The electrical connection of the apparatus
may only be carried out by skilled staff
and in acc. to EN 60079-14.
Attention: Metal flanges, metal plates
and metal cable glands shall be included
in the equipotential earth connection.
PE connection at enclosure wall / flange
plates up to 35 mm²:
- Connection is made at the stud (see Fig. 1)
using conductors with suitable cable lugs
or multi-core cable ends or by rigid
conductors.
PE connection at enclosure wall / flange
plates up to 150 mm²:
- Connection is made at the fixing lug (see Fig.
2) using conductors with suitable cables
lugs or multi-core cable ends.
Attention: The cable lugs should be
crimped onto the cable in a workmanlike
manner.
